Introduction

The 5th conference of ATHIC (ATHIC2014) continues the tradition of the previous conference held in Seoul (2006), Tsukuba (2008), Wuhan (2010), and Pusan (2012), namely, bringing together the heavy-ion physicists mainly from China, Japan and Korea, and to discuss interesting aspects of heavy-ion collisions. As many physicists from Asian countries are actively working on both experimental and theoretical sides in this field, we hope to have fruitful discussions among the participants and develop new ideas towards the further understanding of hot and dense QCD matter. The ATHIC2014 conference will also provide a good opportunity to summarize what we have learned at RHIC and LHC so far.

ATHIC2014 will be held at Osaka University, Japan from August 5 to August 8, 2014.

ATHIC2014 will focus topics including:

- Initial state dynamics
- Jets, and medium response in QGP
- Collective phenomena
- Fluctuations and correlations
- Exploring QCD phase diagram
- Photons and dileptons
- Heavy flavor production
- AdS/CFT and lattice QCD
- Experimental techniques and future programs

The conference consists of invited and selected contributed talks. We encourage students to submit contributions.

Registration

The registration fee is 15000 Yen (about $150 USD) for postdocs and staff members, and 10000 Yen (about $100 USD) for students. The program will be managed on Indico.

Accommodation

Please make hotel reservations by yourselves. We recommend the following hotels, which are all located along the Osaka Monorail Line.

The hotels are listed roughly from more expensive to less expensive ones. Because August is a high season, please make sure to make hotel reservations well in advance.

Access / Venue

There are two airports in Osaka Area, Kansai (KIX) and Itami (Osaka International Airport; ITM). Itami is a domestic airport, although it is named international.

If you arrive in Tokyo (Narita or Haneda) and take a domestic flight, you may arrive at Itami. Note that some domestic flights arrive at Kansai. If you arrive at Kansai Airport, please take a bus to Itami Airport (from bus stop No. 8). The fare is 1900 Yen (one way) and 3400 Yen (round trip, return ticket is valid for 14 days).
